Angry Chair is an alternative rock band hailing from the province of Groningen, The Netherlands. The band consists of five passionate musicians: Max van der Schoor on vocals, David Veen on rhythm guitar, Martijn Schuur on lead guitar, Rick Kluin on bass, and Irina van Dijk on drums. Together, they form a powerful and dynamic unit that has quickly gained attention in the local rock scene and beyond.

Angry Chair draws significant inspiration from the iconic sounds of the 90’s Seattle grunge movement, with bands like Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, and Pearl Jam serving as key influences. However, rather than merely replicating these sounds, Angry Chair strives to blend this grunge legacy with their unique energy and a modern sound. The result is a fresh take on alternative rock, characterized by heavy guitar riffs, emotionally charged vocals, and a driving rhythm section that together create a sound both nostalgic and contemporary.

The band’s chemistry is undeniable, with each member bringing their strengths to the table. Max’ commanding vocals deliver the band’s introspective lyrics with raw emotion, while David and Martijn’s guitars weave together to create intricate melodies and powerful riffs. Angry Chair’s debut album, Hole, recorded in late 2023, is highly anticipated and set for release on October 25, 2024. The album features the band’s previously released singles “Can’t Breathe“, “Another Life“, and the title track “Hole“, all of which have already garnered significant attention and praise. With “Hole” even reaching the number 1 spot in the Duth Indie charts. Hole promises to be a defining moment for Angry Chair.
